Greetings and Welcome!

Thank you for visiting our parish website; we hope you find it helpful. Our parish of St. Catharine of Alexandria, Frome, and St. Dominic, Mells, in the beautiful county of Somerset, is a faith community in the Roman Catholic tradition.  We see ourselves as a local expression of the Universal Church, the People of God, the Body of Christ.  We seek, by God’s grace, to be a welcoming and loving parish family.  Our life centres on the weekend celebration of the Eucharist, but it does not stop there.  We meet Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and are then challenged to bring His love to others. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us (1324-1327): “The Eucharist is ‘the source and summit’ of the Christian life. The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch. The Eucharist is the efficacious sign and sublime cause of that communion in the divine life and that unity of the People of God by which the Church is kept in being. It is the culmination both of God’s action sanctifying the world in Christ and of the worship people offer to Christ and through him to the Father in the Holy Spirit.  Finally, by the Eucharistic celebration we already unite ourselves with the heavenly liturgy and anticipate eternal life, when God will be all in all. In brief, the Eucharist is the sum and summary of our faith: Our way of thinking is attuned to the Eucharist, and the Eucharist in turn confirms our way of thinking.”

Our parish community strives to promote active lay involvement with all working in a collaborative way, and doing so closely with other churches in the area. Together we share the Good News of Jesus.

We are proud of our Catholic Primary School, St. Louis School, and all it strives to do for our own Catholic children and those of other traditions who turn to the school in order that they may benefit from its provision of faith filled formation of the young.

You are most welcome to visit our parish and, if you wish, to become a member.  Our Masses for the Lord’s Day are on Sunday at 9.30am and 5.30pm at St. Catharine’s in Frome, and 11.30am at St. Dominic’s Chapel in Mells.

On behalf of our Parish Pastoral Council and parishioners, it remains for me to extend to you, this prayerful sentiment: May the Lord bless and keep you and your loved ones.

Fr. Richard.
